PROJECTS FOR EXTREMELY POOR CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES

ethiopia_centreAFRICA: 4 DAY CENTRES – A HOME FOR CHILDREN AND MULTIPLE PROJECTS

In 2000 we started with only a few children and now we have 4 childcare centres for children. As well as looking after more than 1000 children in these centres in Ethiopia and Mozambique, we also have a family house for orphans and projects for blind children and as well for mothers in need.

Thanks to the partnerships we formed with many other organisations we run further projects – all aimed at helping the poorest children and adolescents to achieve an independent life.

INDIA: TWO DAY CENTRES HELP CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES LIVING ON THE STREETS

In the metropolises of India, not only do many families live in slums, but also directly on the streets of the city centres. With our day centre we offer 80 children a clean and safe place where they can eat, take a shower, play and learn. We are doing everything we can so that the children can break their cycle of poverty in the future, and have a life with a secured income off the streets.

HOME FOR CHILDREN

In Mekele in Ethiopia at present there is a larger home for younger children including some very small children whom the Government requested the project to take. Another provides care for HIV+ orphans; another for adolescent females aged 15-20, including blind females, and another for adolescent males. In this way ORE provides care through its home based services for blind students, boys and girls.

THAT’S WHAT WE ARE LIVING FOR

Operation Rescue is a children’s relief organisation in Brazil and Ethiopia, funded by donations. Our goal is to take orphans, street children and extremely poor children from their vulnerable situation and to help them to achieve their maximum potential – academically, physically, emotionally and spiritually. OUR DAY CENTRES

In the work in our day care centres we are committed to a family-based principle. The children should if possible remain in their families of origin, benefit from our daily program and get support from Operation Rescue for them and the whole family. We want to provide them through education and capacity building skills with a better future, allowing them to exit the poverty cycle. READ MORE

HELP FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILIES

Mothers and nursing mothers can acquire a professional training at Operation Rescue that enables them to become financially independent. In addition, the families are regularly visited by one of our social workers. He/ she gives advice to the family and monitors the children’s welfare.
