Her Excellency Mrs. Karina Gould Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Development and two Canadian higher Government official delegates arrived in Ethiopia on August 30/2016. She was welcomed by Ethiopian Foreign Affairs Minster Dr. Tedros Adhanom. After a short discussion on development issues, she flew to Mekele with her team including the Ambassador in Ethiopia for Canada. The following day she held a meeting with the President of the Regional State of Tigray and then visited Operation Rescue Ethiopia.

She was greeted on arrival by the traditional ORE welcome event with all the children of ORE in two lines singing their welcome. Also present were journalists with their cameras from 9 medias of the country. A bouquet was presented, and garlands given. The welcoming committee was made up of Mr. Abadi Tesfay Development Coordinator of ORE and members from Civil Society Support Program (CSSP), Alliance of Civil Society Organizations of Tigray (ACSOT) and other government officials. The welcoming speech was given by Mr. Zemicheal Gebremedhin Director of ACSOT, while Mr. Abadi Tesfay, Development Coordinator of ORE, presented the ORE Projects Accomplishment Report and Impacts achieved through these interventions.

Following this, Her Excellency Mrs. Karina Gould Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Development made a speech outlining the purpose of her visit to Ethiopia and specifically to ORE. She discussed the results with the beneficiaries of the project. She gave an interview to the 9 medias representatives of the nation including the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation saying that this was a practical project making a major change to the lives of a marginalized group of people who are in big need. In addition she confirmed that the Partnership of the Canadian government and Operation Rescue will strengthen and continue. After the formalities, she donated footballs and took time to play football and interact with some of the children.
